WHY THIS WATCH
For nearly two decades, Breitling has been collaborating with luxury car manufacturer, Bentley. In 2021, it was announced that the two brands would be ending their collaboration. It all started in 2002, when Bentley introduced an onboard Breitling Clock inside the cabin of their Continental GT.
This particular example, the Barnato, is a limited edition and was named after Joel Woolf Barnato, who is well known for being one of the Bentley Boys that won the prestigious Le Mans race three times with Bentley. The Barnato is a technical tour de force with its 30-second chronograph and a set of unique subdials that utilize rotating wheels instead of the usual rotating micro hands. The Barnato Racing incorporates a disc-type display that rotates to indicate the reading, adjacent to a red arrowhead pointer. Not only is this unique display mechanism enchanting to behold, but it is also visually efficient. This is made possible by Breitling’s Calibre 25B, which also includes a date display and is COSC-certified, like all Breitling movements. The entire movement can be clearly seen through the sapphire caseback, which includes a beautifully sculpted winding rotor designed to look like a Bentley alloy wheel.
